Why Surprise Is Embracing Xeriscaping

Water conservation is a critical priority for one of Arizona's fastest-growing cities. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, landscape irrigation accounts for nearly 30 percent of total household water use nationally and in desert cities like Surprise that figure climbs dramatically higher during the intense summer months that define life in the Northwest Valley. Research from Arizona State University has found that converting conventional lawn areas to professionally designed xeriscape landscaping can reduce outdoor water consumption by 50 to 75 percent annually, a compelling financial return that resonates powerfully with Surprise's rapidly growing and investment-minded residential and commercial community. Beyond the direct water savings, professionally designed drought-tolerant landscaping eliminates the ongoing mowing, fertilizing, overseeding, and seasonal replanting costs that conventional turf demands through Surprise's long and intense summer season, delivering a combined financial return that makes professional xeriscaping one of the most rewarding outdoor investments available to Surprise property owners across every neighborhood and price point in this dynamic and expanding city.
